Church of Saint Cyriacus and Saint Julitta

The Church of Saint Cyriacus was built in 1582 by Father Bishara Mubarak, who came from Keserwan. It was consecrated in 1683 by Patriarch Saint Stephen Douaihy and belongs to the Maronite Archdiocese of Beirut.

It is considered one of the largest and most beautiful mountain churches of its time. Its walls are built of finely cut white stone, and its roof is vaulted. The church was named after the child martyr Saint Cyriacus and his mother, the martyr Saint Julitta, who were killed by the Roman governor in the 4th century AD in the city of Tarsus because they refused to renounce their Christian faith. Cyriacus, who was three years old, is considered the youngest martyr in Christianity.

In 1973, the Church of Saint Cyriacus and Saint Julitta in Rechmaya was included in the General Inventory of Historic Buildings. The feast day of its patron saints is celebrated annually on July 15.
