This shrine is dedicated to Saint Thecla, the first female Christian martyr. The shrine was built in 1908 on a plot of land owned by Father Hanna al-Ghazal. This land later became the property of the Maronite Archbishopric, which undertook the construction of a new church on the site in 1912.
